What we’re building
Forest Edge is a growing group of high-quality preschools in the Western Cape.
We create warm, fun-loving, and professional early childhood environments where children feel safe, happy, and curious, where parents feel supported, and confident in the care their children receive, and where staff feel motivated and excited to come to work.
Our schools are happy places. You’ll hear laughter (from children and staff), see dancing and playing, and feel a genuine sense of community. Behind that warmth sits a strong professional foundation – clear routines, intentional systems, and well-supported teachers who know exactly what’s expected of them and guidance on how to achieve it.
What guides us
Our vision is to build a group of preschools where:
Each school is the best preschool in its area
Children feel safe, loved, confident, happy, and curious
Parents experience warmth, professionalism, and fun
Staff feel supported, proud, and motivated
This vision shapes how we want our schools to feel every day – from the way children are welcomed in the mornings, to how parents are communicated with, to how teachers are supported in their roles.
Everything we do is guided by this shared focus – keeping us aligned, excited, and moving forward together.
Our approach
Preschool quality doesn’t happen by chance.
Great early childhood education is built on strong fundamentals – consistent routines, clear communication, developmentally appropriate environments, and teachers who are supported to do their jobs well.
At Forest Edge we focus on:
Warm, responsive relationships with children
Fun, playful learning that supports real development
Clear structures that create predictability and security for children and parents
Strong school management and professional systems that allow teachers to focus on what matters most – the children
Supportive relationships with parents built on strong communication and transparency
Our goal is simple – to create schools that are experienced as warm and fun-loving but are solid, intentional, and well-run behind the scenes.
Our founder
Forest Edge was founded by Andy Eglinton, an experienced education leader with almost 20 years working in the education space, both locally and internationally.
Andy brings together two worlds – an economics-trained mindset and a Master’s degree in Education. This combination shapes how she leads Forest Edge: thinking deeply about the systems, structures, and decisions that enable people to do their best work in supporting our children and school communities.
She has worked as a teacher, school founder and principal, and has also contributed at a broader level as an advisor to government and through her involvement in the development of South Africa’s early childhood quality assurance and support system.
Andy is passionate about building preschools that feel warm, happy, and fun for children, professional and reliable for parents, and supportive and motivating for staff. She believes that when strong systems sit quietly in the background, teachers are free to focus on what matters most – relationships, learning, and care.
Forest Edge reflects this balance of heart and structure.
